Background & Purpose of the Job:

This exciting and challenging Senior National Account Manager role leads the company’s efforts to maintain and expand relationships and results with a top priority growth customer, Walmart Canada.  Assigned to a Walmart, LCL, and some business development accounts, this SR. National Account Manager is responsible for achieving sales and margin quota, in addition to assigned strategic account objectives. This role will represent a range of company brands, products, and services to assigned customers and will lead the customer account planning cycle ensuring assigned customers’ needs and expectations are met by the company.

This role is based in Scarborough and is hybrid.

Who You Are & What You’ll Do:

Account Management

   Direct sales for assigned account(s) as per annual objectives as stated by management.

   Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the maintenance and operational excellence of the accounts delivering superior customer service.

   Implement company marketing and other strategies to deliver value to customers and find new avenues to growth.

   Provide timely feedback on key customer meetings and market/competitiveness to drive stronger internal decision-making.

   Lead partnership strategies and meetings with key customers.

   Lead vendor negotiations on contracts and promotional / product plans.

   Identify new business opportunities and develop comprehensive sales plans.

   Maintain accurate sales forecast, ensuring healthy fill rates externally through strong tracking of promotional plans and Walmart supply chain metrics.

   Propose and manage new product rollouts and transitions.

   Monitor and provide feedback on competition and any relevant Sales and market data.

   Maintain a trusted partnership with the account through effective communication and timeline management.

P&L / Finance / Margin

   Monitor and take appropriate action to achieve the provided sales and margin targets for accounts.

   Take ownership of the account’s P&L and meet assigned expectations for profitability by actively reviewing and optimizing spending investments and product mix.

   Manage co-op, over and above funds, and rebates in compliance with external and internal process requirements.

People Management

   Provide coaching and training to the Walmart Analyst enabling value-added analysis and reporting.

   Support the maintenance and creation of reporting that enables strong collaboration internally via the use of supply chain and competitive performance data.

   Collaborate and provide direction to the supply team to ensure accurate sales forecasts are maintained internally and appropriate action is taken externally to ensure consistent product availability on the shelf and best-in-class execution of promotional plans.

   Maintain a working environment that fosters a growth mindset within the Walmart team and with cross-functional partners.

Forecasting

   Ensure orders are in place to reflect the appropriate production schedule to support execution excellence.

   Work with the forecast team to review sales forecasts per item every month to reflect customer needs.

   Take ownership of yearly sales forecasts, split by month and by account.

   Take appropriate action to understand any deviation of sales vs forecast and work with customers as appropriate to correct.

What You’ll Need To Succeed:

   Proven strategic sales experience in a business-to-business sales environment, calling on large national accounts.

   Experience selling to Walmart is required, a minimum of 5 years.

   Critical skills for success in this role:

1.       Extremely strong analytically, specifically with Walmart data/reporting.

2.       Ability to influence internally and externally through strong leadership, negotiation, and collaboration skills.

3.       Ownership and creative problem-solving skills.

4.       Customer focus.

   Required business acumen:

1.       Extremely strong project management and cross-functional skills relating to account management.

2.       Strong ability to stay organized by prioritizing time and resources.

3.       Ability to influence internally and externally using data and insights.

4.       Strong communication (written, verbal, presentation).

5.       PC proficiency with agility to learn new tools and automated systems (MS Office, SAP, etc).

   Ambition and potential for career advancement and greater responsibilities within the next 2 years.

   Experience managing domestic import and local sales to Walmart is an asset.

   Familiarity with WM business, processes, and systems, including advertising and line review, is an asset.

   Familiarity with Cookware, Small Domestic Appliances, and Linen Care products is not necessary, but nice to have.

   Minimal travel required.
